Episode 14: "The Music Awards, Part 2"
If an orphan falls from a tower and no one is around to care, did the orphan ever really fall?
Well, yes, because physics, but it’s not like Jem would know because she has no idea her charges are climbing up random grated structures and falling to their dooms.
At least we wish we saw some orphan-fatalities in this episode (like we were promised in last week’s cliffhanger!) but instead we just get “The Music Awards, Part 2” which is decidedly light on orphan deaths even though there were SO many opportunities to thin the herd.
Blessedly, though, and thankfully, in this episode the Deirdre saga comes to a close. Can you call something a “saga” when you desperately want it to end? Or even if it only has two parts? Generally speaking, probably not, but DBO (dumb b*tch orphan) Deirdre disrupts all of the norms and we’re just happy her narrative spotlight gets cut out once this episode of Jem and the Holograms ends… or so we hope.
But before Deirdre heads back into the background she and the orphan posse become street thugs! With queer subtext! And get ready for more “Dance” with an “s”! And all the other inconsequential plot-threads started off in the last instalment that will be coming to an end! Again, thankfully!
Catch it all (with plenty of unnecessary commentary) in this week’s episode of Jem Girls!
